Li Jiao, 李嶠

Li Jiao (李嶠, ca. 645-715), courtesy name Jushan (巨山, Giant Mountain), formally Duke of Zhao (趙公) of the Tang Dynasty. He served as chancellor during the reigns of Wu Zetian, her sons Emperor Zhongzong and Emperor Ruizong, and her grandson Emperor Shang. His family was from Zhao Prefecture (趙州), modern Hebei. Prior to becoming chancellor, he served as deputy head of the Palace Library and then head of the Imperial University. His career, like many other officials, was marked by ups and downs. He finished out his career as an advisor to the prefect of Lu Prefecture (廬州, modern Anhui), where he died about the age of 70.
